On Friday afternoon Julia said her first word! Drum roll please.....Julia's first word was................
MAMA!
MAMA!
Yup, Julia has learned her m's and said mama. There are times she says it when I am around and then there are times when she just babbles "ma-ma-ma-ma". She definitely says it when she is crying and wants me.
In other news, Julia is almost crawling. She gets onto her hands and creeps her arms and chest forward and gets one leg in position, but the other leg gets stuck under the other. Also, when she does lift herself from her tummy to a crawling position, she rocks back and forth as if she is going to take off, but hasn't quite figured out how to coordinate her hands and legs. She may be crawling by the end of the coming week! She is also pulling herself up more often and is starting to use daddy as a jungle gym by trying to hoist herself up to a standing position on him. She loves to stand holding onto furniture or a table (when we put her in the position). She has figured out that when she is sitting on the wood floors she can move very easily by scooting on her butt or wiggling around on her tummy.
This past weekend was pretty uneventful. On Saturday, swim lessons went well and Julia was a fish as always. She swam her heart out and her hard work was evident because she took a 3 hour nap that afternoon! We took advantage of her long nap and took some naps ourselves. Today (Sunday), we did a lot of walking. My back was bothering me and Julia was full of energy, so we walked to church (about a half hour walk one way) and back home. Then after church we went for a long walk at a local park. It was a beautiful day and we probably did about a total of 2 hours of walking. Great for my back and Julia loves going for walks.
Playing on the floor
We had burgers from Red Robin and we were eating in the living room. Julia had already eaten and she helped herself to some of mommy's garlic fries! She was a nut grabbing and crawling on me to get them!
Finally, I got some fries!
Someone was a little greedy taking more fries than she could chew!
